Trick Daddy, whose real name is Maurice Young, was arrested just after 10 p.m. at his home on Southwest 19th Street, according to an arrest affidavit. He was booked into jail and later bonded out.
According to the affidavit, the Broward County Drug Task Force had a “sniff warrant” to search the home and stopped Young as he was leaving in his car.
Young admitted he had powder cocaine in the home and maybe marijuana roaches but no grow house, the affidavit said.
When deputies searched the home, they found 1g of powder that field tested positive for cocaine, the affidavit said. A 9mm Sig Sauer and a box of ammunition were also found in the home, the affidavit said.
Young admitted to deputies that he is a convicted felon, with arrests for trafficking narcotics, possession of ammunition by a convicted felon and possession of cocaine, the affidavit said.
Young was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon, and driving with a suspended license.
The 40-year-old rapper is best known for his 2001 hit “I’m a Thug.”
