MC Lyte steps back to the mic with her first album in 11 years, due later this year. The hip-hop trailblazer teams with Common and 10Beats on the Loudbox-produced first offering, “Dear John.”
The introspective song, which borrows lyrics from Puff Daddy’s “It’s All About the Benjamins,” is the anthem for #EducateOURMen, the scholarship initiative of MC Lyte’s Hip-Hop Sisters Foundation.
Lyte will join Brandy, Yo-Yo, and Queen Latifah to perform the remix to “I Wanna Be Down” at the BET Hip-Hop Awards later this month.
