Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B raked in an average 3.2 million viewers during its premiere telecast. That puts it as the No. 2 cable telepic of 2014, behind fellow Lifetime effort Flowers in the Attic. The film was also a hit online. Nielsen Media's mutable Twitter ratings put the pic at the top of its weekly chart, 997,000 tweets and a unique audience of 3.4 million.
Lifetime also fared well in the demographics, skewing young with 1.7 million adults 18-49 and 1.3 million women 18-49.

Wendy Williams Says Aaliyah Biopic May Air When?

Talk-show Host Wendy Williams talks about the family of Aaliyah, the R&B singer killed in a 2001 plane crash. The relatives are up in arms over an upcoming made-for-TV biopic.

Williams recently joined the Lifetime project as an executive producer and doesn’t think the family, which wants a theatrical film, understands how powerful television can be.
“In my opinion, TV trumps motion picture,” Williams

See Who Will Be Playing Aaliyah & Wendy Williams Will Exc Producer

So Lifetime has finally found there replacement — actress Alexandra Shipp.

Although she isn’t a huge name yet, the 23-year old Phoenix native has appeared on a small number of Nick shows including House of Anubis, and is the star of VH1′s Drumline sequel coming this fall.   Day Time Talk show queen Wendy Williams has also stepped in as the executive producer of the biopic!

Alexandra is also biracial, and it seems as though she is already prepared for the “she’s not Black enough” backlash that Zendaya endured before dropping out of the film. She hopped on Twitter recently and posted a photo of her mom, while letting folks know that they are just going to have to deal.

Wendy has been a fan of both the movie idea and Zendaya playing the songbird from jump. However, when Zendaya dropped out, Wendy went in on Aaliyah fans for forcing Z to “chicken out” and cave into the “she’s not Black enough” pressures.

Production resumes in a few weeks and should be on track for Lifetime to air next fall.

So now we know she can act and bi racial will you all give this girl a chance so we can see this Biopic??

Maybe?? New Girl In Talks To Be Aaliyah in Biopic.. See Who

Even though Zendaya decided to give her role up as Aaliyah for the singer’s biopic, someone better might have taken her spot.
Allegedly Erika Perry has snatched up the role and she looks just like babygirl! Allegedly an exclusive email went out that said: “Lifetime may have already found a replacement for their upcoming Aaliyah film in a relatively unknown new talent. Erika Perry, a 20-year-old Atlanta-native performed with her sisters as part of the group Amor Kismet at the BET Experience on Saturday. Although Zendaya’s departure wasn’t announced yet, Lifetime execs were already in the know and scoped out Perry’s performance. So impressed with her talent and likeness to Aaliyah, they immediately set up additional meetings for Perry that weekend in Los Angeles.

Things are expected to move even faster this week to keep production on schedule.” Well, I guess we’ll have to see if this is really true but visually she is a better look! Hopefully ya'll don't try to run this girl away from the film too because we need to see this biopic.

Check out some of her pics from Instagram...
