"Don't Wanna Dance," a groove-heavy song about not wanting to groove, is the lead single from Varner's sophomore album, 4 Letter Word. In the video, released Monday, Sept. 8, the singer-songwriter goes to a party against her better judgement. "Don't really wanna dance, and I hate most of these songs," she sings. "Plus, my feet are killing me... shoulda stayed my ass at home." On top of that, she gets into a fight with her on-screen lover.
At that moment, Ferg comes to the rescue -- he doesn't want to dance either. In a short, cheerful verse, the rapper tells her "we coulda stayed home and watched Martin," and, even better, "all them clubs janky!" By the end of the song, Varner may not be dancing, but she's smiling at least a little bit.
4 Letter Word, due this year, comes two years after the release of her first album, Perfectly Imperfect (2012).
