Christina Aguilera is rarely at a loss for words. But in the moments after her daughter Summer Rain was born on Aug. 16, 2014, she was all but spellbound.

“I was speechless,” the singer, 34, tells PEOPLE inthis an exclusive interview for this week’s cover. “She was literally like an angel … We had an immediate calm bond, and I felt unexplainably connected to her and her spirit.”

Since then, she and her fiancé, film producer Matt Rutler, who was by her side for the delivery, have only become more smitten with their little girl, now 6 months old.

Christina Aguilera Will Return For Season 8 of NBC "THE VOICE"

Happy to hear that my girl Xtina aka Christina Aguilera is heading back to NBC ‘The Voice’ season 8.

After putting her work on hold to commit to mommy duties, the singer is set to return to the NBC singing contest, before the release of her Urban-kissed new album.

Her return to the series for its eighth season will mark the first time she has worked on it alongside Pharrell Williams, who joined the series to replace the axed CeeLo Green, and will see her reclaim her position from singer Gwen Stefani, with whom she shares a manager.

Nearly a week after announcing that longtime boyfriend Matthew Rutler popped the question, E! News learns that the soulful singer will be going through the familiar journey of pregnancy once again. A source tells us that The Voice judge is expecting baby No. 2, her first child with Rutler.

Lady Gaga and Christina Aguilera shocked the music world with a surprise performance on “The Voice” on Tuesday’s finale.

Gaga started singing her single “Do What U Want” alone, but later Aguilera emerged on stage to take over R. Kelly’s verse on the track.

The two superstars — often pitted as rivals in the media, they wore matching outfits and held hands, cuddled, and drank champagne throughout the rest of the performance.

Gaga explained afterwards that producers invited her to perform, but she asked if Aguilera would be willing to take the stage with her.

“It’s the first time we’ve ever met,” Aguilera admitted, and said she was “of course” willing to collaborate, before going on to praise Gaga as a person and a performer.
